This is a, as the namesake, Shanghai style restaurant. The decor and style of the place is modern and warm. The dishes are typical of Shanghainese favorites. The ingredients are relatively fresh and certain dishes are tasty, such as the vegetable rice and turnip cake. Overall, we had a good experience here.

I celebrated the Chinese New Year’s Day dinner with my friends here. Love the vibe and food here. It gets very busy so the service isn’t the best but we had no complaints and we understood that they were trying their best. They have a great selections of different Shanghainese food or Cantonese and Sichuan food. The pig pots of soups are a must in my opinion. And the most famous 東坡肉. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time for special occasions. If you have a big group I recommend having the private room because they seem so nice. Highly recommended.

A bit hesitant to write a 5 star review for this restaurant because I'm convinced that lower score here is deliberate to keep this gem a secret. We went for a Sunday dinner and the place was pack - almost all the clients were Chinese. Very authentic and excellent Chinese (Shanghainese)food - no orange chicken here.

Shanghailander Palace is a true gem for those seeking authentic Shanghai-style cuisine, and honestly, I’m surprised this restaurant holds a low star rating. While the service leaves room for improvement, the quality and authenticity of the food far outweigh any shortcomings, making it well worth a visit. Ambiance: 4/5 The dining area is simple yet comfortable, with a traditional feel that suits the style of cuisine. It’s not overly flashy, but it creates the right atmosphere for enjoying a hearty, family-style Chinese meal. Authenticity: 5/5 If you’re from Shanghai—or familiar with its culinary traditions—you’ll immediately recognize the flavors here. The dishes are classic, nuanced, and true to the region’s cuisine. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers Shanghai flavors this faithfully. Flavor: 4/5 The food is deeply satisfying, with well-balanced seasonings and a great mix of textures. From their signature Shanghainese dishes to their flavorful stir-fries, each plate reflects skill and care in preparation. This is comfort food at its finest, with a clear nod to tradition. Service: 3/5 The service is average at best and could use improvement, especially given the price

Excellent food. Service was quick too. They also have a wall of famous people that have visited this restaurant at one point. The heavy hitters are: Black Pepper Steak Cubes and Shanghailander Pan Fried Buns. The veggies were delicious too and so were the fish wrapped in some crunchy green stuff. They serve everything promptly and presentation is 10/10 too. There was no wait time on a Saturday night (they did ask us to leave like 5 mins after we had paid, but they are justified to do so, since another party was coming in). There is also parking in the back.
